§ 139. The three sons of Noah had the world, says our author, divided amongst them by their father, for of them was the whole world overspread, p. 14. The world might be overspread by the offspring of Noah’s sons, though he never divided the world amongst them; for the earth might be replenished without being divided:
So that all our author’s argument here proves no such division. However, I allow it to him, and then ask, the world being divided amongst them, which of the three was Adams heir of Adams lordship, Adam’s monarchy, by right descended only to the eldest, then the other two could be but his subjects, his slaves: If by right it descended to all three brothers, by the same right, it will descend to all mankind; and then it will be impossible what he says, p. 19, that heirs are Lords of their brethren, should be true;
but all brothers, and consequently all men, will be equal and independent, all heirs to Adam’s monarchy, and consequently all monarchs too, one as much as another. But it will be said, Noah their father divided the world amongst them; so that our author will allow more to Noah, than he will to God Almighty, for Observations, 211, he thought it hard, that God himself should give the world to Noah and his sons, to the prejudice of Noah’s birthright:
His words are, Noah was left sole heir to the world: Why should it be thought that God would disinherit him of his birth-right, and make him, of all men in the world, the only tenant in common with his children? And yet here he thinks it fit that Noah should disinherit Shem of his birth-right, and divide the world betwixt him and his brethren; so that this birth-right, when our author pleases, must, and when he pleases must not, be sacred and inviolable.
§ 139. Unser Autor behauptet: Die ganze Welt wurde von Noah an seine drei Söhne, denn über die ganze Welt breiteten sie sich aus. S.14. Noahs Nachkommen hätten sich auch über die Welt verbreiten können, wenn er sie nicht an seine Söhne verteilt hätte. Die gesamte
Erde konnte ohne Aufteilung bevölkert werden. Dieses Argument unseres Autors beweist keine solche Teilung.
Aber lassen wir ihm das zugestanden und fragen: Wenn also die Welt unter sie geteilt wurde, wer von den dreien war der Erbe Adams? Wenn Adams Herrschaft, Adams Monarchie rechtmäßig nur auf den Ältesten überginge, könnten die beiden anderen nur seine
Untertanen, seine Sklaven sein.
Wenn sie aber rechtmäßig auf alle drei Brüder überging, muss sie nach demselben Recht auch auf die ganze Menschheit übergehen. Dann kann seine Aussage von S. 19, Erben seien Herren ihrer Brüder unmöglich wahr sein. Im Gegenteil müssen alle Brüder und folglich alle Menschen gleich und unabhängig, sämtlich Erben der Monarchie Adams und folglich sämtlich Monarchen sein. Einer so gut wie der andere. Trotzdem wird der Einwand auftauchen: Noah, ihr Vater, teilte die Welt unter sie!
Dann gesteht unser Autor Noah mehr als dem Allmächtigen zu, denn in O. 211 hielt er es für ungerecht, das Gott selbst die Welt, zum Nachteil von Noahs Erstgeburtsrecht, Noah und seinen Söhnen gäbe. Seine Worte lauten: Noah blieb einziger Erbe der Welt.
Weshalb soll man annehmen, dass Gott ihm sein Erstgeburtsrecht nehmen und ihn allein von allen Menschen der Welt zu einem Besitzer machen wollte, der das Land in Gemeinschaft mit seinen Kindern besäße? Nichtsdestotrotz hält er es für passend, dass Noah Shem seines Erstgeburtsrechts beraubt und die Welt zwischen ihm und seinen Brüdern aufteilt. Dieses Geburtsrecht ist also immer heilig und unverletzlich. Je nachdem ob es unserem Autors gefällt, zwingend heilig und unverletzlich, und falls es ihm nicht gefällt, keinesfalls heilig und unverletzlich.
